Billions Ventured, Nothing Gained
Mike Fong has voted in favor of environmental and regulatory mandates, such as aggressive greenhouse gas reduction targets, which impose significant costs on businesses and consumers without ever delivering proportional economic benefits. These policies have contributed to California's high tax burden, exacerbating the exodus of jobs and companies from the state while straining family budgets. This approach is impractical, hinders growth, and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities.
Assembly Bill 125 (2023-2024)
The Great Monetary Bonfire
Mike Fong voted yes on AB 125, which supported the infamous ‘Californian high-speed rail project’ on which an approximate $128 billion of your tax money has been entirely wasted with no progress of construction occurring in years. Mike Fong is clear in his support for continuing to flush your tax dollars down the toilet on a project that has already consumed incalculable billions of dollars, rather than focusing on the community's needs and allowing you to keep more of what you earned.

Assembly Bill 28 (2023-2024)
Taxing Safety and Shooting Sports
Mike Fong voted yes on AB 28, which slaps an 11% state excise tax on every gun, box of ammo, and even firearm parts sold by licensed dealers in California, driving up prices for law-abiding families, hunters, and sport shooters who want to protect themselves or enjoy the outdoors while funneling the money into government programs instead of cutting wasteful spending or tackling the real causes of crime.

Assembly Bill 48
Debt-Funded Spending Expansion
Mike Fong co-authored and voted yes on AB 48, a bill that establishes the College Health and Safety Bond Act of 2026 to place a massive general obligation bond measure on the ballot for billions in statewide borrowing. These unnecessary expenses saddle future generations with huge debt payments through higher taxes while adding more top-down state control over local projects without proven accountability for how the money gets spent effectively.

David’s Statement
We will suspend the Gas Tax.
We will complete a full audit of the California High Speed Rail Project.
We will make the most expensive state justify its price tag.
I vow to combat rising taxes by fighting any hikes and eliminating unnecessary bureaucratic barriers, so we can put more money back into the pockets of hardworking families and businesses right here in our communities. I will promote pro-growth policies that tackle fiscal recklessness through sensible, targeted reforms instead of piling on burdensome regulations that drive jobs away. We need to reverse the daily financial pressures Californians face, such as sky-high gas and income taxes, sales taxes, and vehicle fees that hit us harder than almost anywhere else in the nation. By cutting wasteful spending and focusing on practical solutions, we can create a more vibrant economy that supports everyone, helps families thrive, and stops the exodus of businesses and opportunities from our state.
